What Type Of Eligible Conditions
Can We Help With?

Cancer

Cancer is one of the most common and serious health conditions affecting South Africans today. While treatments like chemotherapy and radiotherapy are widely used, they can cause severe side effects and don’t always bring lasting relief. As a result, more patients across South Africa are turning to medical cannabis as a natural, alternative option to help manage symptoms and improve overall quality of life.

Gastroenterology

Digestive health issues are extremely common in South Africa, affecting people of all ages. Gastroenterological conditions can impact the stomach, intestines, oesophagus, rectum, or anus, often causing uncomfortable symptoms that interfere with daily life. From bloating and cramps to more serious inflammatory conditions, many South Africans are now exploring medical cannabis as a natural option to help manage these symptoms and improve gut health.

Chronic Pain

Pain is one of the most common health concerns in South Africa, with millions living with ongoing discomfort that can affect their daily lives and mental wellbeing. While strong painkillers like opioids are often prescribed, they carry risks such as side effects and dependency. This has led many South Africans to seek safer, more natural alternatives, with medical cannabis emerging as a promising option for managing chronic pain without the harsh drawbacks of conventional medication.

Palliative Care

Palliative care in South Africa focuses on supporting individuals with terminal illnesses by managing symptoms and improving comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Rather than aiming to cure, it helps patients remain as independent and pain-free as possible during end-of-life care. Medical cannabis is increasingly being explored as a supportive option in palliative treatment, offering relief from pain, anxiety, nausea, and other distressing symptoms.

Psychiatry

Mental health conditions like anxiety, PTSD, depression, and insomnia are increasingly common in South Africa, affecting millions of people every year. While traditional treatments can be effective, they don’t work for everyone and may come with unwanted side effects. As a result, many South Africans are turning to medical cannabis as a natural alternative or complementary therapy to help manage symptoms and improve emotional wellbeing.

Neurology

Neurological conditions affect around 1 in 6 people and involve disorders of the brain, spinal cord, or peripheral nerves. With over 600 recognised conditions in this category, many can severely impact mobility, cognition, and overall quality of life. In South Africa, conditions such as epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and certain forms of dementia are increasingly being supported with medical cannabis. Early studies suggest cannabis may help reduce tremors in Parkinson’s and ease agitation or confusion in some dementia patients, offering hope for improved daily function and comfort.

Sleep disturbances

Sleep disturbances are a growing concern across South Africa, affecting people of all ages and often linked to stress, anxiety, chronic pain, or underlying health conditions. Poor sleep can impact mood, concentration, and overall wellbeing. For those struggling with insomnia or irregular sleep patterns, medical cannabis is emerging as a natural alternative that may help promote deeper, more restful sleep without the dependency risks of traditional sleeping pills.

Anxiety and depression

Anxiety and depression are among the most common mental health challenges in South Africa, affecting millions of individuals and impacting their daily lives, relationships, and overall wellbeing. While conventional treatments like antidepressants and therapy can be effective, they don’t work for everyone. Many South Africans are now exploring medical cannabis as a natural alternative to help reduce anxiety, stabilise mood, and support emotional balance, offering relief without the harsh side effects often associated with pharmaceutical options.

Wife or Husband Stress

Stress related to marriage or long-term relationships is a common issue in South Africa, often leading to emotional strain, anxiety, and even physical symptoms like headaches or insomnia. Whether it’s financial pressure, parenting challenges, or communication breakdowns, relationship stress can take a serious toll on mental health. Many couples are now turning to medical cannabis as a natural way to help manage stress, promote relaxation, and support emotional resilience, creating space for calmer, healthier relationships.

Nausea and appetite loss

Nausea and appetite loss can be caused by a range of conditions, including cancer treatments, chronic illness, stress, and digestive disorders. In South Africa, these symptoms are common among patients undergoing chemotherapy or living with long-term health challenges. Medical cannabis has been shown to help reduce nausea and stimulate appetite naturally, offering relief without the harsh side effects of conventional medication, helping individuals regain strength and improve their overall wellbeing.

Why our members choose Professor Green

You can feel the quality straight away.

I’ve been through a few local products, but nothing hits quite like this. The moment you open the box, you can just tell it’s proper. It’s clean, well-packaged, and you actually feel the difference after using it. It’s not just hype, this is next-level stuff. Real quality, hey.

– Zinhle M., Cape Town

The free consultation really helped me out.

What stood out for me was the fact that they offered a free consultation, no catch, just real help. I had a chat with one of their consultants and they were proper knowledgeable. They helped me pick the right product for my stress and sleep issues. That kind of care? You don’t get that everywhere.

– Thabo D., Johannesburg

Top-class service and proper premium feel.

From start to finish, everything was smooth. The site’s easy to use, the packaging’s classy, and delivery was quick. Feels like you’re buying from a brand that actually cares about its image and its customers. It’s just well put together. You can see they’re not playing around.

– Lerato K., Durban

Trustworthy and solid brand, no doubt.

What I like most is the transparency. They tell you exactly what’s in the product, everything’s tested, and they’re super open about how things work. You just get the sense that this is a brand that’s built right. Not dodgy at all – proper stuff, through and through.

Questions?

Yes, for adults in private. South Africa’s Constitutional Court decriminalised the private use and possession of cannabis by adults, and medical cannabis is available through registered channels. Professor Green operates as a private members club for adults over 18, so access runs through membership and identity verification rather than over a counter.

Not with Professor Green. You do not need a prescription or a doctor’s script. You register with your personal details and your home address, and that address must match the one on your ID. Once we have verified you, you get access to the Dr Green members store.

Professor Green delivers across Johannesburg, including Sandton, Rosebank, Bryanston, Hyde Park, Parkhurst, Fourways, Bedfordview and Melrose Arch. There is no walk-in shop. You join the members club online, verify your ID, and your order is delivered to the address on your account.

CBD is non-psychoactive and is used for things like easing anxiety, inflammation and pain. THC is the compound responsible for the high, and it also has therapeutic uses such as pain relief and appetite stimulation. Most products contain a measured balance of both, and the ratio is listed on every item in the Dr Green members store.

Registration takes about two minutes and is free. You give your personal details and your home address, then provide a valid South African ID card, driver’s licence or passport. Yes, through a registered members club. Professor Green is a marketing affiliate for the Dr Green network, so ordering happens online through the Dr Green members store rather than over a counter. You must be over 18, registered, and identity verified before you can place an order.

Prices vary by strain, by THC and CBD content, and by quantity. South African members typically spend between R500 and R2,000 a month depending on what they order. Current member pricing is shown inside the Dr Green members store once you are registered.

No. Adults do not need a personal licence to use cannabis privately in South Africa. Selling cannabis outside regulated channels remains illegal, which is why Professor Green runs as a members club with identity verification on every account.

Members most often use medical cannabis for chronic pain, insomnia, anxiety, stress, and nausea or appetite loss. Cannabis is not a cure and responses vary from person to person, so speak to a healthcare professional about your own circumstances before you start.

The most common effects are dry mouth, drowsiness, dizziness and short-term memory changes, which are more likely with higher THC products. Effects are usually mild and settle as you find the right product and amount. Start low, and stop and seek medical advice if anything concerns you.

Powered by the Dr Green system

Professor Green runs this website and the marketing. That is all it does. The back-end system behind it is Dr Green’s. Dr Green is the licensed operator that holds the medical cannabis licences in South Africa, and every product a member orders is supplied and fulfilled by Dr Green.

That split is deliberate. Professor Green, operated by Green Tec LLC, is an authorised marketing affiliate for the Dr Green network. We do not verify anyone, hold customer data, sell, handle or ship cannabis. Every registration form submits straight to the Dr Green DApp on the blockchain, so no customer data is stored on this website. Dr Green does all of it, under licence.

It means that when you join Professor Green you are joining the South African members network that runs on the Dr Green system, with every product tracked to a batch.
